How long do bottled cocktails last?

A practical guide to the shelf life of bottled cocktails — what affects it, how to store them, and why D's Cocktails Bottled stays perfect for a full year.

The short answer

Most bottled cocktails last between two weeks and three months when made at home with fresh ingredients. Spirit-forward, sealed bottles made without fresh juice or dairy can last six months or more. A properly formulated commercial bottled cocktail — like ours — can last up to 12 months unopened when stored correctly.

What changes the shelf life

Three things mainly decide how long a bottled cocktail keeps: fresh ingredients (citrus, juice, dairy, and egg shorten shelf life dramatically), alcohol content (higher ABV preserves better), and sealing/storage (light, heat, and air all degrade flavour over time).

How to bottle cocktails properly

If you are bottling at home, stick to spirit-forward recipes — Negronis, Manhattans, Boulevardiers, Martinis. Pre-dilute with filtered water, use a sanitised bottle with an airtight closure, and fill to the neck to limit headspace. Avoid anything with fresh juice or dairy.

How to store them

Keep bottled cocktails in a cool, dry, dark place. Refrigeration is not required for unopened bottles built without fresh ingredients, but it does not hurt. Once opened, reseal and refrigerate.

Why D's Cocktails Bottled lasts 12 months

Every bottle in the D's range is made without fresh fruit or dairy. The recipes are built and balanced for the bottle, not adapted from a bar build. That means each unopened bottle has a 12-month shelf life when stored in a cool, dry place. Once opened, refrigerate and enjoy within a few weeks.
